Adding Products to Thumbnails
Feature physical products in your AI-generated thumbnails — upload product images, describe how they should appear, and create professional product-focused content.
When your video features a physical product — a review, unboxing, sponsored segment, or product launch — you can upload product images so the AI includes them directly in your thumbnail.
How It Works
During the Video to Thumbnail flow, there's a dedicated step for adding product images. The AI uses these reference photos to place the actual product in your generated thumbnail, keeping it recognizable and prominent.
Adding Products Step by Step
- Go to Utilities > Video to Thumbnail
- Paste your YouTube URL and click Continue
- Optionally add face photos on the Add Faces step, then continue
- On the Add Products step, upload one or more product photos
- For each product, expand the card and fill in:
- Product Name — helps the AI identify the product (e.g., "iPhone 16 Pro")
- How should it appear? — describe placement, angle, or how someone should hold it
- Continue to Custom Instructions and generate
Writing Good Product Descriptions
The description field tells the AI exactly how to feature your product. Be specific:
Placement
- "Product centered in the foreground, slightly angled to show the logo"
- "Person holding the bottle with the label facing the camera"
- "Product floating on the right side with a glow effect behind it"
Context
- "Unboxing scene — product emerging from an open box"
- "Side-by-side comparison with the old version"
- "Product on a dark reflective surface with dramatic lighting"
What to avoid
- Vague descriptions like "show the product" — the more specific, the better
- Conflicting instructions (e.g., "product in center" combined with custom instructions saying "person filling the whole frame")
Tips for Best Results
- Use clear, well-lit product photos — the AI needs to see the product details to reproduce them accurately
- Show the product from the angle you want — if you want the label visible, upload a photo where the label is clearly showing
- Combine with faces — upload both a face and a product for thumbnails where a person is holding or reacting to the product
- One product is usually enough — featuring a single product keeps the thumbnail clean and focused
- Add brand colors — if the product belongs to a brand you've set up, select it on the instructions step so colors match
Common Use Cases
Product reviews
Upload the product photo, describe it as "held up to camera by the reviewer, product label clearly visible." Pair it with a face reference for your on-camera presence.
Sponsored content
Add the sponsor's product and mention specific branding requirements in the description. Use the Brand selector on the instructions step to incorporate sponsor colors.
Unboxing videos
Upload a product photo and describe the scene: "product being pulled out of packaging, excited expression on face." The AI creates a dynamic unboxing moment.
Comparison videos
Upload both products and describe their placement: "Product A on the left, Product B on the right, 'VS' text between them."
Limits
- You can upload up to 5 product images per generation
- Supported formats: PNG, JPG, WebP (up to 10MB each)
- Products are passed as reference images to the AI alongside any face and brand assets you've added
