Background Remover

Remove or replace backgrounds in your thumbnails — one-click removal with AI-powered background replacement options.

The Background Remover lets you instantly strip the background from any thumbnail image. You can keep the transparent background or replace it with something new using AI.

Removing a Background

  1. Go to Utilities in the sidebar
  2. Click Background Remover
  3. Upload your thumbnail image (PNG, JPG, or WEBP, up to 5MB)
  4. Click Next to proceed to the editing step
  5. Click Remove Background

The AI processes your image in about 10-15 seconds and produces a clean cutout with transparent background.

Using the Transparent Result

After removal, you have two options:

  • Use Transparent Background — keeps the result as-is with no background. Great for importing into other editors or compositing tools.
  • Replace Background — describe a new background and the AI generates it behind your subject.

Replacing the Background

After removing the background:

  1. In the Replace Background section, describe the new background you want
  2. Click Replace Background

Example prompts for backgrounds

  • "Dramatic sunset sky with orange and purple clouds"
  • "Solid bright red background"
  • "Futuristic neon city skyline at night"
  • "Blurred bokeh lights in warm gold tones"
  • "Clean white studio background with soft shadows"
  • "Tropical beach with palm trees and turquoise water"

Tips

  • Subjects with clear edges (people, objects) get the cleanest cutouts
  • Fine details like wispy hair may need some cleanup in the editor afterward
  • If your subject blends with the background, try increasing the contrast first using the Color Enhancer
  • Background replacement costs 1 credit. Background removal alone also costs 1 credit.
  • The result is saved to your gallery automatically

Common uses

  • Swapping boring backgrounds for eye-catching scenes
  • Creating consistency across a series of thumbnails by using the same background
  • Compositing — remove backgrounds to layer subjects over custom designs
  • Product shots — place products on clean, professional backgrounds
